Mrs. Inca's parents got first shot last week. My dad getting his first today. My mom wants to get it from her doctor's office despite them having no idea when she could come in, and there being available appointments near her this week. My dad agrees with me that if she doesn't get it this week that we need to force her to get it from someplace else.

My mum got her first (Oxford /astra zeneca) jab today. Next one's not until mid April ludicrously, meaning that if all goes to plan I'll have had both of mine before she gets her second shot

When there they pretended to be new residents hired by a local motel. It comes as no surprise to learn that he was the CEO of a chain of casinos who were recently embroiled in a corruption and money-laundering investigation.

The original is paywalled and I no longer have a subscription to Handelsblatt, but they cite "government sources" who tell them that the early data is that the A-Z vaccine is massively less effective on the elderly than are the MRNA vaccines.

Uh huh. He's a genuine prick. As an instance, not having anything else to spend his money on he installed a Koi pond. After a year or so a couple of otters began treating the pool as their personal smorgasbord. Understandably I guess, but as Koi are expensive and money is the most important thing in his life he was pissed off. Still there are ways of deterring otters, but that wasn't enough he needed to get rid of them permanently. So an assholes gotta do what an assholes gotta do, and he bought a couple of traps. Unluckily for the otters they worked. Now he had a couple of largish live rodents to dispose of. So he did what anyone would do... he threw them in his hot tub, where they suffocated. Now he had a couple of largish dead rodents to get rid of, which he put in bin bags and left out with the weekly garbage. For some reason, they weren't picked up. So — and this is the double cream icing on the cake — he drove to the local First Nations reserve and dumped them there.

BBC reporting that another new vaccine, Novavax (do you see what they did with the name there?), has proved 89.3% effective in trials and the UK government has ordered 60 million doses of it (I don't know how many doses of it are needed for each individual for it to be effective).
