I could rage at the sordid opinions he's attracted ("FSM is not a true indicator of poverty" being one of the more irritating) but I prefer to think of the way he's shown that another way is possible, it's the simplicity with which he's shown that ordinary human decency still has a place in our public life. I couldn't think any more highly of him.

Absoloutely. Kept the pressure on. Built a network. Spoken out about what free school meals meant to his mother and him.
Hero.

and as Brian Moore (who should know) points out- they'll be smiling in public whilst coming for him in any way they can

He's 22. he was born three months into the first Blair government.
The Tories have been in power since he was 11 years old.Last edited by Nefertiti2; 23-10-2020, 22:10.

Reminds me of something I said elsewhere about Bourdain. "There's nothing more political than food. Who's eating and who isn't."
His shows also illustrate that those in power are the least deserving of, and least capable of using it for good. And that all movements, be that culinary, musical, cultural, political, come from the people. We are where hope lies, and where the future lies.
Marcus Rushford has shown this to be case yet again.

Thanks all
it's really important to keep the pressure on, the Tories clearly want this to replace the last vestiges of the welfare state- and normalise that the charity inspired by a 22 year old footballer replaces the statutory responsibility (that most Tories in the 70's and 90's would have accepted) of ensuring no child goes hungry.
