Poppies are a great example of virtue signalling. You pay a pound and get to walk around for the next fortnight* trumpeting your beliefs and charity and looking down on those who didn't.

    * - or next two minutes if, like me, you can never work out the pins and the poppy falls of the first time you turn a corner and then the pin stabs you in the nipple.

How fast do you go round corners, Pebble?

And yeah, the poppy fetishism is virtue signalling of the highest order.

Good sources here for info on child poverty.

        https://assets.publishing.service.go...eb_version.pdf

        https://www.ippr.org/news-and-media/...emic-finds-ipp

The latter estimates the current number of UK children in poverty to be around 4.5 million. Around a third.

Here’s a fragment of a PPT I put together, aimed at 6th formers hence word cloud.

          Huge news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-54841316

Government to spend ?400 million on supporting poor children to get food over the school holidays.

Marcus Rashford says it will improve the lives of 1.7 million children.

Imagine if every famous person, who had a public platform, used it to try and improve the world in one way that they saw that really mattered. What could a hundred Marcus Rashford's do? Or a thousand?

Everybody's focus is on the US elections, also it's Remembrance Sunday, so it would seem you can bury screeching U-turns in the same manner as you can bad news.

Too late for half term so they've saved themselves some money.

Congratulations to Marcus Rashford again for fighting on behalf of the poor and those truly in need.

I see the Tory MPs that said help for FSM learners was counterproductive because of blah blah this and blah blah that are now rather supportive because of blah blah the other,

I can't be sure whether they are the same Tory MPs that said the Welsh Firebreak Fortnight lockdown was an assault on freedom because of blah blah this and blah blah bare but are now rather supportive of the English Four Week Lockdown because of blah blah the other.

Kowalski well Andrew Right Twat Davies has been made to look like a plonker yet again. He called out nation.cymru for reporting that English supermarkets would restrict nonessential items and quoted Guido Fawkes at them telling them to retract their comments. Then it was announced that English supermarkets would be restricted from selling nonessential items.

Tbh if I was a Tory MP I wouldn't go out to defend any unpopular policies at the moment because Boris spins the wheels on the government jeep and u-turns on a weekly basis at the moment. Why bother with the aggro.

noted cunt Ben Bradley was bigging up the u-turn on C4 news tonight. Kipper fash bastard, looks like a man who can't take a shit without having a ton of gak on the porcelain.

He, and his management team at Roc Nation, are playing a blinder.

Hahaha, they are just trolling the Tory government now aren't they.

I can imagine the Sun and Mail journalists stopping every female in the greater Manchester area looking for "information" on him.

Incidentally, it’s only people on the left who think there’s anything wrong with becoming a buy-to-let landlord.
                                        Is that right, aye?

Feels like this thread needs to be revived given the scandal over food provision and profiteering. I've posted on a couple of threads already.

Jack Monroe is all over this, starting with this thread

It occurs to me the Taxpayers Alliance have been very quiet about the terrible value the government are getting from these food suppliers.
