Why do you need a photo ID to cast a "safe vote"? What's wrong with a simple polling card for ID purposes? You only get one of the those and unless the people on the desks indulge in incredible shenanigans you can't cast a vote more than once.

According to The Electoral Commission "There remains no evidence of large-scale electoral fraud" and in 2019 592 cases of alleged electoral fraud were investigated by the police. Just another ex-moggy from St. Metaphor's Political Expedient Pet Mortuary ..

I'm not going to carry an ID card.

There is no need for any change to the voting process in respect of ID. None whatsoever. It's purely and simply a way of discouraging the wrong people from voting. That's what the plan is for.

        Affordable?

So not only do we have to be stamped and filed we have to pay for it?

And what Hobbes said about providing ID and the presumption of innocence etc.

ID cards are contentious, yes, but I find them very useful.

          Sorry.

I should add I'm not an advocate for changing the current situation, for exactly the reason Ton Ton says. But if they do, the counter to that should be ID cards, as that undermines the whole voter supression aspect. Everyone will have one, so it won't change a thing.

Not content with flag shagging they're now after some hot statue action an' all.

                        Fuck this country, man.

EDIT: Why not cheer yourself up by looking at all the things you can do for less time than damaging a statue?

There's so much nonsense on here. There is one simple, straightforward version of history. A reflection of a straightforward time when men were men, and moral standards were absolute. a good history, a clean history, with no moral ambiguity.

I can't speak for Croydon, but Tottenham is as hardcore labour as a constituency can be found in the UK.

When we are not happy about something, we turn up voting is long blud.

What with the police bill making its way through Parliament, what's the odds a backbencher will move a bill to restore capital punishment and have it "smiled upon" by the Government?

The Home Secretary has already said she is in favour of reintroducing capital Punishment. as has the attorney general who is currently on materinty leave.

The media billionaires and far right groups they are close to are also in favour of the death penalty so perhaps a little evidence to match your certainty would be helpful

n the past Ms Patel has expressed support for capital punishment. In 2006 she told the Mail on Sunday:

If you had the ultimate punishment for the murder of policemen and other heinous crimes, I am sure it would act as a deterrent. We must send a clear signal to people that crime doesn’t pay. The punishment must fit the crime and yes, I do support capital punishment.”
