    Kerala air crash

The presence of mind of the captain and first officer to shut down the engines in this incident is stunning

Condolences to all, but this was true professionalism from Captain Deepak Sathe, and First Officer Akhilesh Sharma

    RIP

Not much more to say. It seemed somehow more awful when I read this story and saw the passenegers were finally making it home after the Covid border closures.

There's criticism doing the rounds "he should have diverted after two go-arounds" and the like.

But how have these "tabletop" landing strips ever been authorised in the first place?

They have been approved by the national civil aviation authority.

The Wiki is worth reading; this has been a recognised issue for large aircraft for years.
