    Entomoligical query

    Huge numbers of a particular kind of beetle in our garden today (location - Cambridge, UK), suddenly (well, "suddenly" I think, we may just have been unobservant over the last few chilly rainy days, and outside briefly today to grab a bit of chilly sunshine). . One in every few square inches of grass on average I'd say. Seems a bit like the beetle equivalent of flying ants day. Anyone else experiencing anything similar? I can't find anything on the internet about it.

    How big are they? If quite small, quite possibly pollen beetles - they tend to “swarm” in high numbers at this time of the year, and are attracted to bright colours. There’s been known outbreaks in your region in recent years. Harmless critters.
