Of all the sums mentioned as going to individual councils, the largest allocation is to Bromley. Would anyone like to guess which political party controls Bromley Council?

Gotta say this is pretty desperate stuff. I'm not sure that the Irish govt would even send out a press relieease for a £7.5 million rise in the road budget this year, I and next. I mean that's just the sort of thing that happens, and they try to hide it tbh. That's really not a lot of money as far as these things go, and the chat of £235 million extra over the next 11 years is kind of tragic.

They look to me to be exploiting the current system to the hilt, and the fact that they have been able to do so for as long as they have makes me think that the reservoir of potential clients for these tactics is deep enough (and their fee structure robust enough) for them to be overly prejudiced by their being eventually conflicted out.

So Lord Bethel told the Covid Inquiry, through a govt. lawyer that his phone had been lost\damaged\given to a family member but definitely erased in 2021 so sadly he couldn't provide any whatsapps or sms messages from 2020 to the enquiry.
Yesterday he countered an accusation from Michelle Mone about his knowledge of her alleged corruption by provided a screenshot of a message from her.

Conservative MP Miriam Cates has been placed under investigation by Parliament's standards watchdog.

Ms Cates was elected as MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, in 2019.

It is not known exactly what the investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards relates to.

However it is claimed she caused "significant damage to the reputation of the House as a whole, or of its members generally".

(WTF do you do to damage the reputation of parliament that's worse than what they're doing on a daily basis?)
