And he's taking all the shit despite his whole party and mates being on the take. It's a great strategy to be honest.

An 88 (EDIT: 87?) seat majority, some weird hex over your front benchers, a compliant Tory electorate and an (admittedly dwindling) fawning media.

Why not do what the fuck you want?

      Unless, y'know, you're not a narcissistic sociopath.

Yes, I'm sorry for not thinking that, apologies Toby.

All I know is that in Holland people keep nudging me in the ribs saying "that Boris, eh?" Johnson, I reply.

Worryingly a few of them think he's a bit of a lad. The vast majority just think he's a laughing stock, and can't believe he's getting away with this.

Frost belching out the Telegraph about what Johnson has to do: "with all the neo-socialists, green fanatics and pro-woke crowd exiting immediately". I do find this sort of disconnect fascinating. I mean even assuming that people with those beliefs are in the modern Conservative party, they are certainly not in the cabinet. Who are they referring to? I can't think of anything "woke" associated with this government. Neo-socialists I assume means people who supported furlough and the continued existence of the NHS. Are "green fanatics" = people who believe climate change is real?

Queen Carrie Antoinette, who is obviously leading poor Boris astray with his balls in her grip.

Johnson has called the suggestion that he authorised the animal airlift out of Kabul as "total rhubarb".

Given that he uses that sort of language when he's lying his arse off, I think we can safely say the answer is "Yes".

Well yeah, they've got so many frothing racists in their ranks they're even exporting them to the Parliamentary Labour Party now

All he has to do is ride it out until Parliament gets another well deserved two week holiday on 10 February, and then it will be yesterday's news as the cycle moves on.

...and now the Met Police have given him the horse to ride out on, by vetoing reference in Sue Gray's report to any events that they are investigating. So at most in the short term we'll get the vanilla version of Sue Gray's report, which by definition won't include any rule-breaking, and then months later the Met will come back and say "oh those things we were investigating? We didn't find anything".

I'm not sure what the Met are saying (although I know why). They're investigating something that could result in one or two people getting the equivalent of a parking fine, not preparing a murder case. If anything their statement makes Cressida Dick look even more like a fucking useless puppet than their original insistence that there was no available evidence.

On the other hand, it really increases the chances that he'll drag the whole party down with him, the longer he stays in.

You'd think, but 10 mins on social media suggest that the guillable idiots are doubling down* on their guillable idiocy. There is literally nothing they will not make excuses for.

                            * actually at this stage it's less doubling down, more like quadrupling down.

Sadly both Britain and the USA seem to be completely broken, democracy wise. Australia isn't much better. Murdoch and the other media owners run the western world nowadays.

Especially as it is a fine and not going to a jury.

The Met couldn't be more obviously corrupt if it tried.

Fingers crossed. Hopefully this will be more than transient anger, rather a permanent once and for all realisation among enough floating voters of what a fundamentally dishonest weasel he is. (With apologies to actual animals of the genus mustela). Difficult to be hugely confident, though, with the Tories still polling in the (low) 30s per cent region, in the face of all the evidence of what utterly corrupt and incompetent slime-balls they are, due to a mix of unpleasant human nature and overwhelmingly toxic UK mass media.

Electorally, a lot will depend on a willingness of enough Labour, LD and Green voters to vote tactically to get the Tories out, and conversely on the extent to which the Tories benefit from their new voter suppression measures.

Turns out the birthday party was reported on by the Times the following day but nobody in our bent media wanted to remove the PM from office at the time so it just faded away

From the experience of the GQP going from strength to strength under the cult of Trump, I'd say the opposite.

The Tories are currently bound to Johnson and will only ditch him if they personally stand to lose their seat as a result of his conduct.

When honour and principles govern a large amount of the way Parliament works, an utterly shameless cunt with an iron clad belief in their right to rule, and that everything is someone else's fault, can ride roughshod over what passes for decent society.
                                        .

Time to do an RUC on the Met, and abolish and replace it.

If those allegations about senior Met officers have any substance, they clearly must be investigated. Unfortunately, it will understandably be necessary to put the Met's party inquiry on hold pending the outcome of that investigation, etc.

Them and the City of London Police at the same time. Two sides of the same bent coin.

Would that require an Act of Parliament?

I've always found both of those institutions to be remarkably opaque

The PSNI needed one, so presumably any police force would also.

I was unaware until today that Dicks dad is Johnson’s godfather! What are the odds eh? Can this shit get any more blatant?

Starmer and the other leaders need to make a joint statement along the lines that there’ll be investigations into the whole shitshow under the next non tory govt no matter what it’s make up is so these current investigations may as well be genuine before the investigators themselves are the subject of one themselves.

Imagine being a copper who joined up for the right reasons anywhere in the country and having to go about your job with everyone you deal with watching this Met shit going down. Poor fuckers must know exactly what they’re gonna hear at work as soon as they get out of bed on a morning.
