Not making a point about KS (or anything else really), but couldn't think of another thread suitable for this.

The trend line graph for UK opinion polls as of now is crying out for someone to draw a bird's eye on it.

      A rabbit‘s eye, surely. ;-)
      that reminds me tho‘...

starmer ( despite bigging up his human rights record when running as leader) is again whipping for abstentions on whether the secret service and police and various other government employees have the right to commit crimes with impunity- currently up to and including murder.

Swings from tories to labour occurring when the UK's hit with higher rates of coronavirus cases, I see. Almost as if the public don't like the government's handling of it.

As was surely demonstrated the other week, abstaining will make no fucking difference to way the tories will frame this, they'll still say Labour refused to back our boys in blue etc, and the frothing gammons will lap it up. Meanwhile anyone with a brain (which only appears to be about 40% of the electorate, at best) will just be left thinking what is the fucking point of the Labour party. Abstaining on a bill which will literally be used to round you up.

Can’t condemn torture too unequivocally- might upset that nice Mr D Miliband

Voting to grant the security services the right to do anything they like seems very, very short-sighted by Labour.

Still, no way these powers could ever be deployed against the left, eh?

                  By a Labour government, too.

Adding to the Pat Finucane references above- his son John was elected MP for Belfast North last year. As a Sinn Feiner he obviously won't be showing at Westminster for the debate.

                    Good on Zarah Sultana though

Labour doesn't want to be held account for the death squads their governments have run either...

That brave abstention will change everything for Labour in those 'red wall' towns. Labour nailed-on to regain Burnley and Grimsby now. Stick your mortgage on it.

I'd be prepared to bet debt on anything.

Starmer won’t back calls for Hancock’s resignation either. Presumably he thinks it benefits Labour to have the little squirt in office until a public inquiry.

I kind of get that sometimes the Opp just needs to sit back and let the incompetence of the govt speak for itself, but christ almighty this is a shitshow. The silly fucker can fuck off with his 4-d chess, he's going to lose the city voters and not getting any of the Salt of the Earth towns back either.

If anyone thinks that there will be a proper public inquiry into this, then I may have to refer them to previous public inquiries.

                                  Well yes, I definitely don’t.

Hancock is staying for Johnson’s benefit, a useful snivelling shield.

who would Miliband be approving for extraordinary rendition I wonder - and for which government

It's also easily disprovable simply by going on to Len McClusky's wikipedia, as someone on that twitter thread did, showing that he wasn't even in his current position until after David M had already lost his leadership bid.

sadly it's not just that these people are unpleasant- they are also very stupid and very bad at politics

what would one do for Denis Healey now
