The people he's been trying to impress (boomers, brexit voters, homeowners etc) clocked that he was deeply untrustworthy a good 6 months before he became leader. So on that score they were well ahead of the rest of us.

Sir Keir Starmer - Labour Party Leader

Keir Starmer has angrily rounded on “cowards” who brief against his staff and warned shadow ministers that they should quit if they’re unhappy with his leadership team.
The Labour leader told the weekly meeting of Labour’s shadow cabinet that he was appalled by recent criticism of his aides, saying those responsible should “either stop now or have the guts to get out” of his frontbench team.

not necessarily a criticism of Starmer, but the toxic idiocy of the centrist mates

As someone else pointed out somewhere, the more Labour go on about this "vaccine bounce" the more it becomes associated with the government, and actually delivers said bounce. It's absurdly self-fulfilling. Planting the idea that the success of the vaccine is in fact down to the government, especially if you make insufficient reference to the government's many fatal failings throughout the whole crisis.
The Labour centre-right is fundamentally politically incompetent now.

A “bounce” would be the gap is widening because Tory vote was going up , instead of it actually being steady and Labour dropping.
Someone pointed out that he’s only five points off Labour at its worst polling under Corbyn and that’s with favourable coverage.

They're at it again
"a senior campaign insider" briefing against Liam Byrne
Shouldn't "senior campaign insiders" be working for their candidate- at least during the election, anyway?

I really don't understand what their game is. Liam Byrne ought to be a revered figure with the serious party of government nostalgia crowd.
They aren't going to tempt the king over the water back with the promise of an army of six party hacks, three of whom will knife him in the back before the first week is out.

I wonder what the interview procedure is for senior party hacks- do they have an anti-bonding exercise?
"I'm sorry you look like a good team player. You're not Labour party head office material"

Maybe appointing a Blairite with links to dodgy business as general Secretary wasn’t a very good idea

i guess the advisors reckon it’s important to show Labour doesn’t care about any of that stuff anymore

I've never had an MP who had to issue a statement about being kicked out of a pub before. Then again I've never had an MP whose name, in response to the question "Actually, who is your MP?" from a friend (and Labour member), prompted hearty laughter.
