It is at least theoretically possible, but rather unlikely, particularly for Canada.

It would likely mean negative rates of close to 3 percent in Switzerland, and they haven't yet reached negative one percent as far as I know.

I've never seen that here, but then I don't attend church regularly. In US Catholic congregations, it has long been practice for the parish to distribute weekly contribution envelopes to regular attendees, but even those are often used with cash (and with cheques if not)
The church would love to move cashless. The likely return of getting people on a weekly automated payment vs attendance would be boom time.

As for negative interest rates - it is a bit like a reverse zero coupon bond on longer dates. Processing coupons from holders would be a nightmare (much like the old strips process) so it issues basically at a huge premium and steadily eats away from (say) $1200 to $1000 over five years (those are some high negative rates in my example mind).

          Tesco won't change, clearly.

Sure, they have employed more staff. But their vast profits still trickle up, not down.

Hidden in the business pages of the i. I bet it's not even mentioned in the Mail and Sun.

Thought this was a decent opinion piece on how, and when, major changes happen in political & economic thought.
