The constant changes are a major contributor to non-compliance imo. "What are the rules this week?"

This seems to have been an error, and the number was out by a factor of ten. Today, Bahrain is back down to 1.4 tests per member of population.

Pretty sure I saw something today. Hang on.

Here we go: Recovering from Covid gives similar level of protection to vaccine

(They mean "as" rather than "to", but then the guardian has clearly sacked all its subs over the last couple of years and headlines are created by a linguistically challenged clickbait bot)

Who needs subs when you are taking over the world?

Cheers. Yes, I just saw the BBC report on the research. Seems to be fairly encouraging, or at least better than initial expectations.

Gov. Newsom loudly declared that all Californians 65 years and older are now eligible to receive the vaccine. What was left unsaid was that it's up to each county to decide whether they will start offering it to 65+ currently. Most are not because they are nowhere near finished with vaccinating their first tiers. And some counties don't have enough supplies to expand to a wider group now. Santa Clara County requested 100,000 more doses, but were told that they will receive 6,000.

No data available yet for today in the UK.

And this just published in the Guardian about the regulator refusing to approve mass testing in schools in England because of the unreliability of the test results.

Schools won't be opening until Easter I think.

After a glacially slow start to vaccinations in Ireland, we're now seventh per capita:

No idea, I've asked Google and found nothing. Perhaps the spreadsheet is broken again.

There was something earlier about it being to do with compiling the death figure.

1,248 deaths in the UK today, taking the official Covid-19 death toll over 86,000.

The reason there is the discrepancy between the Guardian figure of over 100,000. The 86,000+ is deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test. The 100,000+ is deaths where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate (but may not be the only cause).
