In July, Vietnam had reported only 400 cases, zero deaths and had had no new cases reported for 99 days so they pretty much opened everything back up and went back to life as normal. Now, there's been an outbreak in Da Nang, cases have jumped to 789 and there have been 10 deaths. The government has acted swiftly to close things again and track and trace, and I think they'll be successful in stopping it again. It shows that even with an aggressive, effective approach, the virus can flare up with even the tiniest toehold.

California's data system has failed, likely leading to a "significant" undercount in the number of cases. It wasn't designed to handle the number of cases in this pandemic.

Thanks for the link. That's very interesting, though I suspect that "Susan Coffin, an infectious disease physician at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia" may suffer from the odd, unexpected appointment cancellation.
