I've just been blocked by one of my twitter followers. All I did was to suggest that it might be a bad idea to reopen schools at the moment due to the fact that we are still seeing thousands of new cases, as well as hundreds of fatalities, a day. The funny thing is that it has taken him about two weeks to notice that I'd replied to one of his tweet.

I see that a raft of ministers are tweeting about the horrid people that politicise things to score political points. I'm sure they think we're better than this and that we should go and take a long hard look at ourselves in the mirror for a long time.

Cummings travelled from London to Durham.
Kinnock travelled from South Wales to London.
They're similar journeys. I couldn't give a shit about either of them personally.
I've seen people breaking the rules daily (rather than stretching, or re-interpreting as above) since this thing started, but as the long as the vast majority adhere the infection rate goes down and "lockdown" has been far better observed than they had modelled for.

From conversation and observation, it feels like everyone has decided that this is all over, and that the shark has left Amity and we can open the beaches fully for Memorial Day. Even the local news yesterday was telling people about the "post-lockdown holiday". I hope public sentiment is right, but I see no evidence of it.

A lot of people are still observing a degree of protocols - masks, doing things outside, etc - which means we may not see a spike. But the volume of people out, the (generally socially distanced) gatherings, and so on, my bike group deciding to start group rides again and then go drinking (outside) after, makes it feel like a step-change.

As for Cummings if he's proven to have travelled with those symptoms and is case zero he should be protected, he won't be and won't even have to resign.

So if both parents of a young child or children contract the virus at the same time what are they supposed to do, other than take the child/children to someone who will look after them or invite someone to collect them, even if that involves a long-distance journey or the new carers taking the risk of being infected too?
