I'm not saying that they're amazingly popular but they're fielding 10 candidates in the forthcoming GE.

Frankly, any support at all flies in the face of assertions that anti-foreigner hostility is unknown in the Republic, as some would have us believe.

        You da bad man, Nocto

Yes, Berba has written a load of old hooey about post-religious and post-racist Ireland but I don't think he's suggested there's a complete absence of prejudice...

Maureen O'Sullivan is retiring in Dublin Central, which, alongside an extra seat, should mean that the Social Democrats gain a third TD through Gary Gannon.

Fair to say "The Hooligan's" apology has poured oil on the fire:

Veteran local campaigner Christy Burke ran O' Sullivan close last time, he's in the same catchment area so he'll be confident, there's going to have to be some tactical voting to keep Fianna Fail out.

Probably the most obnoxious cunt I've ever worked with, a right nasty piece of work, is running for the National party.

It's this kind of shit that makes me slightly wary of STV.

First debate on Prime Time, Michael Mc Grath seems very badly prepared and getting a bit of a kicking, Ruth Coppinger actually talking a lot of sense, though it's easy if you're not going to be in power, Eamon Ryan has bugger all communication skills.

Unusual for McGrath - generally the FF answer to Coveney, in that he's the preferred option to wheel out for TV interviews and debates.

Not unusual at all. The guy is useless. He is the FF number two due to him being from M. Martin's constituency.

On a more serious note, there appears to be a serious crime wave across the country this week - first a teenager was murdered in Drogheda, next a student was killed at a Cork house party, and now two men have been shot in north Dublin.

The advantages of being able to transfer your vote (that it's much less likely to be wasted being the most obvious) outweigh that parties will often try to exploit it as in the Kerry example.

Yes, the stabbing was the Cork student.

Michael McGrath being the FF answer to Coveney reminded me of this:

Michael McGrath has a big pig eyed Nazi looking head on him. Proper soldier haircut as well.

More evidence to counter TAB's claim that the Republic of Ireland is really cool with immigration and multiculturalism.
It's evidence that everyone entering the country from the UK should have to pass a questionaire more like. These people are all going to lose their deposits. These people are the obviously dangerously bewildered. These are not the people that you have to worry about. I'd be looking harder at Noel Grealish or Mattie McGrath, or Sinn Fein.

This apparently what a lot of Gemma O'Doherty's tweets are like.

Along with purported videos of rioting that ultimately prove to have occurred in the US or further afield.

Interestingly, Ming Flanagan has been canvassing with Saoirse McHugh in Mayo, even though she remains a Green, and his own protegé, Michael Fitzmaurice, is running in Roscommon:

It was basically an amateurish video that looked like it had cost 10 cent to put together - basically, they got some staffers to put on masks of Fianna Fáil politicians, and sent them running around a room "looking for policy ideas"!
