    It doesn't say how long it will take to get there.

          Indeed.

          Alan, Scott, and Tintin on TB3, with the line being drawn towards the Sun Probe

          Virgil, Brains, and Bremen drive to the tops of the Himalayas with a mobile unit to be as close as possible on Earth.

              Brains' robot they'd packed rather than the computer.

                Oh.

                I don't remember Brains's robot. I thought you mis-typed "Gordon".

                      I think it was hobbes who once explained how incredibly difficult it would actually be to put Piers Morgan in a rocket and fire him into the Sun. Something to do with breaking out of the Earth's initial orbit, and that getting close to the Sun you wouldn't crash into it but be slungshot round it and back toward us?

                        But still worth a try, surely?

                          Is the title of this thread from an old movie? It sounds like the text of one of the film clips that Man or AstroMan? put at the start of most of their tracks.

                            I assume it's a riff on Pink Floyd.

                              And has been pointed out, on Sun Probe from Thunderbirds.

                              That was a (manned*) expedition to the outer reaches of Old Sol.

                              (The lighthouse one is from the Empire State Building episode)

                              * Or "puppeted"
