Interesting that this came out in the (Sunday) Times? Can anyone more qualified than me comment on that paper's editorial position on this whole (Eton) mess?

The full front page would seem to indicate that they are very much trying to have things every way possible.

I guess that there could always be a first time for a Murdoch-owned title, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Hedging bets? A perception that Johnson might not be the best vessel for the preferred regime after all? It would be a more interesting question if the stakes weren't as high.

They're hedging their bets . And the Murdoch has always used carrot and stick to bully people into backing their agenda. Remember George Osborne's cocaine scandal.

Labour are pushing the Johnson story, and the fact that that Andrew Marr didn't ask Raab about it

As we've discussed on the Brexit thread, the papers will gladly play the man not the ball, in the expectation that the Tory beast will just grow another head and keep furthering their agenda. I'm not convinced that any of the right wing (ok, rightestmost wing) papers are with Johnson for the long haul (in the way that they were with Thatcher, and initially at least May) with the exception of the Telegraph for obvious reasons. Most of them know he's going to fuck up spectacularly at some point and The Sun or the Sunday Times would each equally love to claim the scalp.

Better late than never I guess...
The government says it is investigating after claims against the PM are made by a newspaper.

John Humphrys was a lazy Brexiteer

Can someone with a twitter account please log in and tell Ed Hall that he's a fucking simple fucking cunt?

                      Thanks.

Nick Robinson on Today yesterday morning used a lovely tone on the word friendship to describe the relationship between Johnson and this American lady who he used to visit in her top floor flat in Shoreditch.

                              Missing an opening bracket, Nef.

Do we have a fight among favourite Tory stenographers?

It's not just the BBC of course. Look at the replies to Di Stefano.

This is referred to on the Brexit thread, but on the few occasions I bother with BBC news now, there always seems to be a vox pop from some hard leave voting constituency. Stoke on Trent and Walsall were the latest picks last night.

I don't remember seeing many remain areas featured. Or I've just been unlucky to miss them.

The BBC are doing a whole week of programmes from Stoke as part of some vague programme to report what's going on outside London or something. In the bits I've heard there's been a bit of chat about oatcakes but it's been mainly Leave means Leave, 17.4 etc.

Well, being Murdoch, it's anti-Labour, and Johnson is a Telegraph man.

There was a comparative report from one of the two places you mention (if not them it's usually Grimsby) and Remainer Altrincham earlier this week, but it does seem like they prefer to go to Leave areas. If I was being charitable I might suggest that finding out what Leavers in Leave areas think about the fact that we haven't left yet is a bit more newsworthy than going to Remain areas and asking Remainers about the delay, but frankly both are just tedious exercises and used as filler when the news programmes can't think of anything else to re-analyse.

A fave Grimsby vox pop was when the BBC sent business presenter Steph McGovern to the docks at 4am one day, to be met by a queue of punters asking if she was on the game...

I know the BBC are often concerned about antisemitism (in the Labour Party)

have they covered this in Lewes overnight
