Why would anyone believe a word that DC says?

    Comment

If you have the word of two or more liars, you believe the one that can produce receipts.

Otherwise you take a fleeting moment of light relief.

I doubt it... a message has been sent

Well if LK denies it then you may have a point. But she hasn't, and she won't, and we all know why.

Cummings is someone that no-one should ever trust, but at no point today has he said anything that people who had even half an eye for two minutes of events hadn't figured out. Hancock fucked up PPE but is a useful idiot, Johnson was too lazy and didn't give a shit how many he killed, herd immunity was always the goal, Cummings himself was using LauraK as a mouthpiece... this is only new if you have spent the year gaslighting the country. Most of it is already on camera or radio interview.

He will undoubtedly paint his own role in things as the lone voice of sanity but that is the bit that we can take with a pinch of salt.

Also this is a guy who thinks the very idea of a Government with attached civil service should be burned to the ground. So, in a twist of irony, telling the truth is probably the best way to achieve that. He doesn't give a shit, never has, never will. If he can smash something up, he will use the nearest hammer.

At best it's a very selective truth though. One that absolves Sunak and Gove from all criticism. I mean, what he says about Johnson and Hancock sounds right, and fits with what we know, but there's no reason beyond that to believe it.

No reason to believe it except that it’s corroborated by the facts , both what was said at the time and what we have learned subsequently

                    Yes, as I said.

Yes, the characters that are absent from his account are intriguing, give that such absence is anything but incidental.

The Mail's line as compared to its ideological brethren is also intriguing here, particularly given its long association with Gove.

Most of what Cummings said was predictable, if no less damning.

I enjoyed him saying the cabinet office were "irredeemably shit", and then quoting someone else around March 13 2020: "we are fucked". Broadcast live at 10am, Sky News weren't as quick as the BBC were when Laura K got a shout out.

Can't remember if we had a separate thread for GB News but anyway it has launched tonight. It has production values which makes 1980s Border TV look slick. Dan Wootton is on now interviewing Alan Sugar via Zoom. After giving his condolences to Sugar for the loss of two relatives to Covid, they promptly cut Sugar off leaving a blank screen.

If the channel lasts to the end of 2021 I'll be surprised (and would assume someone with deep pockets is bankrolling it for their own reasons).

The BBC have removed it now, but whoever thought it was ok in the first place made a colossal error of judgement.
