How does someone under suicide watch manage that? Hmmm. It's as if he has very powerful frenemies.

Suicide watch does not equal 24 hour permanent surveillance in most prisons and the MCC is particularly bad

          Very convenient.

I would have assumed rich-guy-US-prison would have been better than that, but seems not.

Rich guy US prison is once one has been convicted, but Epstein's problem was that he was being held pending trial together with the general population downtown.

Ah ok. Seems I also assumed incorrectly there would be rich-guy-awaiting-trial-prison there.

We don't prosecute enough rich guys to make that cost effective

Weird to think they wouldn't find the money to keep an eye on such a high-profile case who had already "tried to kill himself" a couple of weeks previous.

I would've thought the chances of that just went down.

Even weirder to think they would simply do their job.

BBC News report contained a large amount of archive footage of a young Trump whispering comments to a giggling Epstein.

                                  It all looks suss.

                                    But a great guy.

                                    Or something.

I believe the corollary is "guilty by association"

(or whatever is the antithesis of "and the pig got up and slowly walked away")

Channel 4 News noticeably didn't name the "British woman" involved just now. Does anyone know why that might be given how well publicised her association with Epstein has been?

They appear to have decided that it isn't worth the relatively small risk, given the threats of libel actions they (and everyone else) have no doubt received. I would expect that they think that they would ultimately win, but might not get costs, and would prefer not to be out of pocket for their defence.

The libel laws in England and Wales (and the legal infrastructure that has grown up around them) really have a material chilling effect on the news you receive compared to the rest of the world.

So that's why the otf glitterati are talking about the Earl of Inverness.

                                          It all becomes clear.

And yet the news media rejected a sensible compromise to de-chill libel because it would have meant redress fur victims of tabloid cuntery
