Very much part of the brand, I'm afraid

    Particularly in New York

Can you imagine what went through the compliance staff's heads when they got that instruction?

I was waiting for a follow-up tweet about how he would gladly watch all of the child rape to make sure he wasn't in them.

I assumed that Dershowitz Tweet was a fake.

He's going to end up trying an Ernest Saunders to avoid jail time.

The fact he hopes someone else has to watch them, and the victims will know someone is watching them, is revolting. And it would not prove his innocence because nobody could prove that all the abuse was taped.

That’s quite the Hail Mary play, as we’d say.

The indictment makes for grim reading.

Who knows if this is true at all, but it would be grimly amusing if Ghislaine Maxwell was behind one of the most powerful accounts on Reddit:

I think 'fantasist' suggests that at some level he himself believed what he was saying. It seems rather more malicious than that, in fact. The judge in his fraud case found him to be 'intelligent, resourceful, manipulative and devious,' and among other things the accuser admitted to having hoarded quite a lot of kiddie porn himself.

On Maxwell, am I alone (on here; I certainly don't seem to be on Twitter) in only having learnt in the last couple of days how her first name is pronounced? I realise it's not the most pressing question of the day.

I'm still not sure. I have only seen it written down and never heard it spoken. I'd hazard a guess at Giz-lane, but have no real idea

                                I have no idea either.

It's Ghee-lan, apparently ('ghee' as in Indian clarified butter). I (and many others) had always assumed 'Jizz-lane'.

I'd always have assumed that Ghi- would be pronounced with a hard g, since that seems to be the norm in most latin languages, but that aside, I hadn't worked it out. I presume it's French, so i suppose it makes sense, though I'm never entirely sure when letters (like the s here) go silent in French if they're at the end of a syllable rather than a word

I've been pronouncing it the French way, which is Jee-slen (French 'J', pronounced [ʒ] not [dʒ])

I'm now trying to think of a French word that pronounces 'gh' as a soft 'g'.

(Bernard Genghini - I guess he did.)

People are rhyming it with Elaine on the Netflix Epstein doc.

Words starting with "gh" aren't a thing in French, unless it's borrowed from another language. It's a hard g and the s is silent.

Though apparently the name Ghislaine is of Frankish origin. There was a 7th-century Belgian saint named Ghislain. There's the Latin name Gislenus.

That's broadly true about 'gh', but Ghislaine is pronounced with a soft G in French (and the S isn't silent). I don't make the rules.

I don't doubt you though I'm not sure that's a rule? I would assume other words starting with "gh" would get a hard g. Google translate thinks so anyway.

At any rate, everyone in the documentary calls her "Ghee-lain"
