You'd like to think so. A PM that clearly cannot keep his dick in his pants is very vulnerable to blackmail and as we've seen from Johnson exchanging sex for favours.

More money spaffed up the wall by that unaccountable prick.

It's all gone quiet about him being as corrupt as fuck. He's a mixture of Trump and Berlusconi.

Welsh Conservative Assembly candidate "singlehandedly and deliberately" (in the judge's words) causes a rape trial to collapse; Prime Minister refuses to comment when questioned about it in the Commons. This is absolutely fucking horrible, content warnings for details of what I just described apply - https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/p...acked-17172254

The pattern is to set up a form of populism, as per Trump, where you can rule via misleading people on social media rather than going through democratic filters and mediators that make you accountable to scrutiny and norms of honesty.

Also, the question "Does data show it helps the Tories?" is idiotic on its face. It should be fucking obvious on 'cui bono' grounds that the Tories would not be floating this unless they had calculated a clear pro-Tory advantage.

This shouldn't be underestimated. Lots of people see and hear things in the news and assume they've happened. There will be people who think you're not allowed to eat on trains any more.

And a quick search on Twitter for voter ID throws up some of the following in favour.

    A Brexit Party MEP

    A Conservative MP

    Roger Helmet

Various randos saying how do they buy stuff at the supermarket then, if they can afford a credit card, why not photo ID, ID cards should be compulsory etc.

Alex clearly appealing to both his core demographic, and those he wishes to "reach out" to

They won't pass anything of this nature while they don't have a majority, and there might not be enough time to bring it forward, even if they intended to do so rather than just posturing.

Legal challenge would be interesting. Even "free to apply" means buying a stamp and maybe a bus fare to the post office, and getting a passport sized photo done, plus the assumption that people have enough spare time.
