I always thought Pearse a disgusting madman who wasted the capabilities of the Citizen Army and its ideals for his twisted churchy Celtic bollocks. And Connolly a fool for backing the hysteric and probably throwing away any chance of Socialist influence in Ireland for at least 50 years post the flagrant martyrdom.
I'm more sympathetic now.

Well, I hope so in a terrible way. Gammon Land needs to see what is on the end of its fork.Last edited by Lang Spoon; 26-07-2019, 00:11.

This isn't going to work out very well for us either. Virtually everything we export and import goes across the UK. sure we've hired the biggest ferry in the world to go to France, but that's nowhere near enough, and even if it was, it would add a lot of delays. But it is likely unavoidable at this point.

Medicine and fresh food shortages will be nasty as fuck in Ireland no doubt. Disgusting bigot reality Denying bastards (or cynical as fuck disaster capitalists) that are willing to go to no deal. Especial pox on those coward Tory MPs that know it's madness but still won't do fuck all to stop it for fear of the Brexit Party/constituency membership fuckwits on their right flank.Last edited by Lang Spoon; 26-07-2019, 00:35.

A lot of people in Ireland seem fairly blasé thinking deals with Rotterdam and a few French ports are enough to see supply chains unaffected here in the event of no deal. These are (in circles I inhabit) the same types of folk who are Panglossian re the housing market (and also own a fuckin house).Last edited by Lang Spoon; 26-07-2019, 00:34.

Also all Boris is going to do whenever asked an awkward question like "why are there no tomatoes in supermarkets any more?" is pull out a little union flag and start singing Land of Hope and Glory and the idiots who've voted for him will lap it up.Last edited by Rogin the Armchair fan; 26-07-2019, 06:05.

I'm not sure Corbyn should attempt to trigger an election as early as possible. Let's say it worked, and we did get one on October 24th. That is before Brexit Day and Johnson can peddle any lie he wants. Timing it for after October 31st means that either we've crashed out, or Johnson has gone back on the first thing that he said when taking office. (I do quite like the idea of it being around November 8th - the Tories have to break off halfway through to deal with the EU and beg for an extension that it might not get or there are several days where the effects of No Deal will actually start hitting people.)

Also he performs much better on campaign than he does day to day, partly because the media has to actually report on what he does and says on a campaign rather than simply ignore him whilst giving free oxygen to all his critics. It also gives Labour's huge base something specific to work towards. These two factors contributed to a huge upswing at the last GE, and the assumption is that the same would happen again. I think it will, but whether it will be as significant as last time is a different matter entirely

The Representation of the People Act legislates for equal airtime as well as non-biased reporting so the BBC (in particular) was bound to report things equally. The papers aren't.
The fear that I have is that social media advertising is completely unregulated and we're up against a well-oiled machine that doesn't give a shit what lies it pushes out and can do so with impunity and a lot of money.
