80-90% of marriages where at least one spouse has bipolar end in divorce. Which is a rather unpleasant statistic if, like me, you have bipolar and wish to remain married.
I can see why though. I am, of course, very wonderful. But I am extremely hard to live with and my condition puts a huge amount of strain on our family unit.
I suspect that part of Kanye's difficulties are due to the collision between bipolar and being a celebrity. Celebrities, and wealthy people in general, tend to be surrounded by yes men. If you're in a manic phase and say to your nearest and dearest "I think I might be the next Messiah", what you need is for people to say "no, you're not. Now take your meds and go and clean the downstairs toilet" because it helps you be a bit more grounded. If you're Kanye and in a manic phase and you say "I think I might be the next Messiah", you probably have lots of people around you who go "absolutely, we think you might be as well" which is the opposite of what you need.
