The only possible original story I can tell is that one day in Netanya, where my mum was living, I needed a toilet one day and luckily there was a public one in the town. So I went inside and discovered that there was no loo roll. I looked around and lo and behold there was a woman lurking with that very thing. In some kind of mixture or English, Arabic, French and sign language we managed to sort out that I really didn't know how many bits of toilet paper I needed to take to the bog with me and please could she give me as much as she had as I was unsure whether the few bits of paper she originally wanted to let me have were enough. She begrudgingly agreed and I gave her a few shekels tip.

Next time I might tell you about the time my sisters and me shared one bed down in Eilat but then again maybe not.
Buying toilet paper by the slice from a crone sitting outside was pretty much standard practice in Singapore when I worked there (late 90s).

Celebrities denounce proposed boycott of Eurovision in Israel

              https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...y_to_clipboard

Not really celebrities but a handful of semi famous people who also have something else in common. A ridiculous headline which is basically clickbait.

The article itself does give some balance and mentions the BDS etc.

If you believe in human rights, Madonna, don’t play Tel Aviv

                https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...y_to_clipboard

Roger Waters has appealed to Madonna not to play Eurovision. She's so clearly being used by the regime to legitimise the occupation and demonisation of the non Jews in both Palestine and Israel.

I've started the official Eurovision Thread with a call to boycott. I wonder how this will go down on OTF?

Stephen Fry, whose views on the occupation I've encountered before, is one of these people who talks about Hamas as if they are the root cause of everything. He seems very affable and agreeable in most things but his position on the occupation is deeply racist.

I hadn't heard him on Israel before and wish I hadn't as I agree with you that he's affable. Now he's an apologist for an apartheid state and can go fuck himself.

As soon as I saw Rachel Riley on the list I knew this was offensive bullshit.

                        Sloper to thread.

Given he's our occasional IDF apologist cunt who suggests I'm an anti-Semite for suggesting the murder of Turks on the high seas by Israeli special forces or the use of white phosphorous against civilian targets are crimes against humanity

I think most of us on this thread are anti Semites GP.

Turkey condemns 'Israeli terrorism' for bombing news agency in Gaza

                              https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...y_to_clipboard

Israel bombs Anatolian News Agency in Gaza, of course because it was staffed by Hamas or something similar.

That looked like a demolition rather than an air strike.

But it's ok Madonna and Eurovision are coming.

I remembered after reading this review (https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...ion-of-carnage) that PBS' show Frontline was going to air the One Day in Gaza documentary tonight. Except the page for that specific episode on the Frontline website is 404'd, and my local PBS affiliate is airing a repeat episode instead. The Frontline Facebook page now shows a repeat airing tonight, no mention what happened to the Gaza documentary.

Lieberman and the Haredi end up knifing each other to bring down Bibi's whole carefully constructed house of reactionary cards.

Unfortunately, he is very likely to win again.
