    Paul Flynn RIP

The father of the house has passed away. A real voice on issues of Wales and workers and typical of a number of South Wales Labour MPs from the 80s.

He would have been a great influence in today's Labour Party but sadly he's no longer with us.

My (old) local MP, he was a great example of what an MP should be, always visible locally, and the only reason I still bothered to vote for Labour in 2010, when I was a bit worried he might lose his seat. In the end he held on fairly comfortably. I hope we get someone as committed to the consituency as he was, as Newport East have had some real shitty representatives in the corresponding time he was representing the west.

I don't feel this obituary really does him justice. Whoever follows in his footsteps certainly had a lot to live up to. Michael Sheen the actor perhaps?
