Dear Mr Waterstones, are the travel books on Wales

"Oh, and I've got a book on the ladies of Llangollen."

That surely must be a reference to the first line of a limerick.

And one on the rare colleens of Rathlin
      Another refers old Thin Lizzy
Who once covered Dance yourself Dizzy
In a style that suggests Mary Coughlan

So, our "vulture fund" friends at Elliot Management have just acquired Barnes & Noble and will appoint a single CEO to run both it and Waterstone's, which they picked up last year.

This is no doubt terrible news for anyone who relies on either establishment, but may be cheering to devotees of commercial real estate speculation.

Ooh, that's me. I don't really think of Elliot as real estate players, though, at least in Europe.

I don't either, but I don't see what else they might covet in these assets.

Do they have any naval ships?

I can't believe nobody picked up on the fact that Bored was in search of "In Search of Wales". And in search of a Welsh travel section too.

As an update, apparently, H. V. Morton made up a load of his stories - including the one about meeting Lloyd George in my paternal hereditary home of Criccieth - and was a racist. On the other hand, my friends are still working in Waterstones.
