We're off to Edinburgh for a weekend at the end of April. It will be, embarrassingly my first trip to Scotland (apart from a 30 minute jaunt to Gretna when I was a kid.)
I have friends who we're visiting but I'd rather stay in a hotelB&B as we'll be there 2 nights and they have 2 young children. We don't want to get in the way as they don't have a spare bedroom and perhaps more importantly, we don't want to get woken up at some ungodly hour by a sugar-charged 2 year old jumping on our heads.
So does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay to the north of Edinburgh Waverley but still fairly central? My friends live up near the Firth of Forth off the Lower Granton Road.
Somewhere between there and the castle that's not eye-wateringly expensive but not a dump would be grand.
