Anywhere, I just popped in to flag up that numerous of the wonderful live osprey nest cams I first discovered a year or so ago during the initial lockdown are now streaming footage of their occupants newly returned from Africa and setting up home again for the British summer:
Dyfi Osprey Project
Wales
Dyfi Estuary (near Aberystwyth): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rSaYPVL3xM
Established female Telyn and her new mate Idris from last year are getting happily re-established. First egg laid yesterday, second could be as soon as early tomorrow.
Llyn Clywedog (near Llanidloes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCS7YjC3KQs
First egg looks imminent judging by female (Seren) bird's behaviour.
Glaslyn (near Porthmadog): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlD4Cc0DYa0
Wales' osprey matriarch Mrs G has just laid her second egg this afternoon, first was on Saturday. She's successfully raised 41 chicks since 2004, and is accelerating: if she has another three fledge this year she and her current partner Aran will have managed 18 since 2015 alone.
Scotland
Loch Arkaig (west of Great Glen): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnj51gVwL7c
Male Louis has only just arrived back two days ago, still very thin so far. Female Aila not reappeared yet, hopefully any time now.
Loch of the Lowes (near Dunkeld): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4TNpY1NhWw
A new one on me, I evidently missed this last year. Right by the loch shore, first egg laid Sunday.
England
Rutland Water (Manton Bay): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpN2akxWtF0
Very early arrivals back from Africa, Maya and Blue 33 have been incubating eggs for respectively 14, 11 and 8 days already.
Poole Harbour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCGzx9BIih0
Some of the above maintain the same stream throughout, others switch to a new one periodically (and Clywedog does so daily), but if the links here aren't showing the current livestream clicking through to the relevant channel's main page should offer up the newest one.
