You can see the New York and Millmoor on the Rotherham United one...

Oh, and if the map went just a little further to the bottom left (south-east) it would show the old family home...

That's excellent. Though the village I grew up in (and where my mum still lives) is clearly associated with absolutely nobody of note since it is not on the map.

Found that the other day. It's every European country represented by its most famous artwork. How many can you name correctly?

There's an awful lot of 19th c. academic dross in Eastern Europe, isn't there?

And the Spanish selection is "controversial".

Do you have any idea of how the selections were made?

Yes, the Chagall stands out a mile in Eastern Europe.

How is that Monet's most famous work and not haystacks, cathedral or water lillies? And that's even before getting to weather he'd be the artist of the most famous piece.

20 years ago the UK would have been the haywain, or a Gainsborough.

Would be difficult to choose an Irish painting, but he's certainly the most famous modern artist - perhaps one of his "Pope" series, though?

Las Meninas? or maybe the Rokeby Venus.

I've become quite interested in the way that, beyond a handful of super famous works and artists, what is well regarded country to country depends on what is in the national collections of a country. Which in turn depends on what 18th and 19th century collectors valued. The galleries of Vienna are full of artists that I've never heard of, which is a failing on my part I admit, once you get past Klimt, Schiele and the super famous Germans and French.
