We do have that and they’ve aligned themselves politically with conservative Catholics and Jews, which was less likely to happen in the Old Country.

Though to some extent, I think, people who want to control other people are attracted to that kind of religion. So, to some extent, right-wing politics causes right-wing religion as much as the other way around, I think.

In countries like the UK where religion just isn’t at all popular, the right still finds other ways to scare people into voting for them.

I don’t know how much religion is tied to the kind of nationalism that pushed Brexit. It doesn’t seem to matter. Humans seem to have a limitless capacity to invent reasons to hate other people.

American militarism/nationalism is tied closely to religion and race, but it would still be a problem even if it wasn’t and it will likely still be a problem even if religiosity fades and racial equality improves.

As a matter of interest, what do these evangelicals think of the family honour of various other peoples across the world?

It used to depend on whether those countries supported the invasion of Iraq.

I love parkour but don't watch a lot of it, so I don't know if this stuff is par for the course or as mind-blowing as it looks: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-eng...ussex-54561179

                Possibly both of course.

Oh, they are good. Parkour is crazy - it is a little like an urban equivalent to free solo.

The clip at the start with the dive into the river features in a longer video the group made of how they developed the stunt. It's really interesting to see and aside from the impressive athleticism and courage, it's hilarious to listen to one of the group decline to take part in a particular stunt because he's scared of water.

                    It's here if anyone's interested.

I mean they're show-offs, but if I could do any of that stuff, I think I'd be inclined to show it off. It is also a great sport for kids. It was very popular at my last school, where a group of older kids ran a club that all the staff were desperate not to be supervising.

That jump where the guy lands around 0:36 to 0:40 - insane. He looks as if he had a cushion/surplus of less than 1% of his momentum between having enough to keep forwards and having not quite enough and falling back to his death.

You'd get better jumpers for €10 in Penney's.

Anyone else yearn for the days when British Rail and BTP would direct these kinds of warnings at kids?

I just saw a web advert for a services station, describing it as a "stunning destination". Who makes a journey specifically to visit a service station?!? Am I missing something?!?

Well, lambers was claiming he enjoys the landscapes at the loos of one of the motorway service stations somewhere between Hampshire and the Lake District (in the Holidays in the time of covid thread, though I see that he's sneakily put a paragraph break in there now!).

I believe Rheged services on the A66 fancies itself as "Cumbria's leading family day out".
