We do have that and they’ve aligned themselves politically with conservative Catholics and Jews, which was less likely to happen in the Old Country.
Though to some extent, I think, people who want to control other people are attracted to that kind of religion. So, to some extent, right-wing politics causes right-wing religion as much as the other way around, I think.
In countries like the UK where religion just isn’t at all popular, the right still finds other ways to scare people into voting for them.
I don’t know how much religion is tied to the kind of nationalism that pushed Brexit. It doesn’t seem to matter. Humans seem to have a limitless capacity to invent reasons to hate other people.
American militarism/nationalism is tied closely to religion and race, but it would still be a problem even if it wasn’t and it will likely still be a problem even if religiosity fades and racial equality improves.
