I'm not naive enough for this to have evoked a true WTF reaction in me, but can't think of a better place for this:

A Tea Party Republican state representative in Michigan has tried to implicate himself in a fake sex scandal involving a male prostitute in order to draw attention away from his real affair with a fellow tea party lawmaker.
The newspaper reported that state Rep. Todd Courser (R) asked an aide to send an anonymous email to GOP activists alleging that Courser had been spotted having sex with a male prostitute "behind a Lansing night club."
The ruse was reportedly designed to create false accusations that were so over the top that Courser's affair with fellow freshman lawmaker Rep. Cindy Gamrat (R) would seem "mild by comparison," according to the paper.
The whole thing was blown up, however, by secret audio recordings created by Courser's then-aide, Ben Graham, and obtained by the Detroit News. Graham reportedly refused to send the email and was later fired. (The newspaper noted that Gamrat also recently fired an aide, who was unwilling to help hide the relationship between the two legislators.)
In the recordings, according to the Detroit News, Courser could be heard asking Graham to send the anonymous email and get "nasty about it" with accusations that the lawmaker was addicted to porn and was a "sexual deviant."

“What’s their incentive to hustle if you pay them so much?” Brajcich said they asked.
and instead it worked out much more along the lines of the reported experience of the employee
Several employees who stayed, while exhilarated by the raises, say they feel a lot of pressure. “Am I doing my job well enough to deserve this?” said Stephanie Brooks, 23, who joined Gravity as an administrative assistant two months before the wage increase. “I didn’t earn it.”
Capitalists are so wedded to the carrot and stick approach that they forget they are not dealing with donkeys.

I am still slightly dazed from last night, when Radio 4 informed me of the following...
"The rugby player Brian Moore's ideal festival features a flotilla of boats sailing up and down the Thames, carrying iconic works of art."

Unfortunately, the latest elite prep school rape scandal doesn't really surprise me at all.
Prosecutors say Labrie took his victim by surprise, before she could resist or flee, and raped her repeatedly. He is charged with three counts of aggravated felony sex assault, endangering the welfare of a child and using a computer to lure the girl to the on-campus meeting.
Labrie denied having intercourse with the girl, telling police that they partially disrobed, kissed and touched. He also acknowledged putting on a condom. Labrie said the freshman girl was eager to have sex, but the aspiring divinity student said he had a “moment of self-restraint” and stopped.
“He stated it was a moment of ‘divine inspiration,’” detective Julie Curtin wrote in her affidavit.
Asked why the girl would lie about having sex with him, Labrie said it’s a “great source of pride for younger students” to have sex with seniors.
