    "Customs duties may be imposed"

Wanting to buy a new CD box set from someone in the US on Amazon, and there's this caveat. How likely is it to happen? The boxset costs £5.80 from the dealer, RRP probably about £14.

    Thanks.

Moderately, I'd guess. I never seem to have any problem when importing DVDs, but I have had a charge added for T-shirts and games.

How does that work? I pay the postie the difference between the two rates?

Next time I meet some anti-globaliser crustie I'll ask him what fucking free trade he means.

I wouldn't worry Tubby. Most of the salsa CDs I have were ordered over Amazon from the States, and a fair few cost more than that box set, and I didn't get charged customs for any of them.

I believe threshold over which customs duty is payable (from outside EU) is £18, so you should be OK.

Might help if you can get sender to mark item as "gift worth £10" or whatever dollar equivalent is these days.
