Who's doing your cooking on the 25th?
This year, Mrs Bored is doing the Christmas dinner again after a one year hiatus when she complained so much that I said I would do it. In case you think this is overly chauvinistic, I should remind everyone that Christmas Day is my birthday and I am not cooking for everyone else on my birthday. However, this did mean that, last year, I had been to the pub for a couple of hours in the early afternoon and was nicely pissed when I did cook. No-one got food poisoning so I am assuming that it went OK.
Just finished the shopping as well. I go for a minimalist a Christmas dinner as possible as there is always so much bloody left over. We are going with the three veg - parsnips, sprouts and mashed carrots - an organic turkey and roast pots. The only nods to luxury - apart from the fine ingredients and expert cooking - will be duck fat on the pots, pigs in blankets (which I am forced to get) and cranberry sauce. I am not even sure whether we are going to have stuffing actually.
Christmas Eve dinner has transformed over the years from the gammon, boiled potatoes, broad beans and parsley sauce that we used to have when my Grampy came over to the former two with a cauliflower cheese this year.
