    Racism claim against indemnity insurers

From the Law Society Gazette this week:

Some 'interesting' comments in the responses.

Hmmmm. Suggestions of racial bias here are, I think, misplaced. The article doesn't mention that a huge amount of firms - African or Asian sounding names or not - had their renewal terms either on or after the renewal date. They don't seem to understand that their insistence on having a common renewal date of 1st October is a huge headache for the industry. Wonder if anyone has considered that a contributory factor to the perennial rush for terms?

It's interesting, also, that the Law Society are so vociferous on the issue of PI cover (particularly cost), given that it was their decision to abandon the previous scheme arrangement to allow firms to take advantage of preferential market rates at the time. Then, when the claims and costs started to mount they acted all shocked when premiums started to rocket.....

Oh, and don't even get me started on the assigned risks pool.
