I find it near impossible to move. The pain is in the small of my back, and anything other than lying in bed sobbing quietly to myself results in horrendous, breath-removing pain.

Alcohol helps. I know, as I've done my back in (more medical terms) in the past and drinking helped. For a few hours.

I suppose the trick is to not stop drinking.

EIM, honey, I know, I've been there. Have you had this before? You can rest for a day or two, but unless it's actually a slipped disc - in which case, get to a hospital - it should feel a bit less bad very quickly.

Last time I had this, it happened in the gym & it took me about 3 hours to walk to the bus stop. But even at crisis point, being forced to move helped a bit. So see hoe you go tomorrow. It may kill at first, but after getting moving, you feel better. Oh and beg your doctor for cocodamol, the strongest kind.
