    Wonky biology nil thread

    Fascinating result in Nature.

Researchers have found that image formation and light detection for circadian rhythm purposes are separated at the retinal level. There's a layman's explanation on the Nature podcast.

So does this imply that creatures that live in near-total darkness get to form images in their brains with greater clarity (i.e. greater than zero!) than we thought?

I don't think so. It implies, but far from demonstrates, that there may be an identifiable cause and hence cure for people with normal vision but who have difficulty adjusting circadian rhythm.
