Oh man.
When my Dad worked at the University of Newcastle, my Stepmum was in an organisation called UWIG: the University Wives (this was the 70s) International Group, which did lots of hands-across the water stuff, welcoming the families of visiting lecturers and so on. There was a persistent rumour that "International" had once been "Overseas". -
