World Cup twitter and other randomness

A catch-all place to stick anything a bit random and/or funny. Top tip: once you've copied the link to a tweet, can you post it like this?

    [tweet]https://twitter.com/vonstrenginho/status/1011166046873702401[/tweet]
    https://twitter.com/vonstrenginho/st...66046873702401

i.e. paste it in twice, both within and without the [tweet][/tweet] tags. This embeds it and shows the link, which helps people on different devices/browsers.

I made a dumb joke and I guess someone with a lot of followers retweeted it, because I've gotten more reaction that I ever get for one of my tweets.

There's this. Sorry I can't post it as requested, am not sure how to do it on my tablet, when pissed.

I held it together until the goal, then I blubbed a waterfall.

Switching allegiance to Colombia, as of now.

And from one end of the spectrum of human kindness, to the other. Spotted and tweeted by BDG.

Just to clarify, a Peru fan has run down at speed to intercept the Australian shirt being given to the Aussie kids. Luckily there's a woman with them who manages to intervene and the shirt ends up with small boy, and the shithouse is sent packing empty-handed.

Oh man, that Columbian fan thing is beautiful. Am going to show it to my kids at school tomorrow. Along with Duck Tales, obviously.

Reporter gave Messi a good luck charm after the first game, sees him after the Nigeria game. He asks Messi if he remembers getting the charm...Messi shows him he was wearing it around his ankle. Not the foot he scored with, but still. Then: "Mom...Messi wore it."

I actually read that the man in question comes form the poorest neighbourhood in Lima. His kid is the Peruvian "boy in the bubble", and is on his deathbed because the family can no longer afford to pay for the ultra-clean room conditions at the Lima hospital. The kid's final wish is to have a t-shirt from the World Cup. The father sold both his kidneys to pay for the tickets and will be on dialysis for the rest of his life. Meanwhile, the healthy Columbian kid who comes from a family of doctors and lawyers has been to every match and now has player shirts from all 32 teams. His brother has all the goalkeeper shirts.

So let's not jump to conclusions here.

Apparently, 72% of Catalans (including a majority of nationalists) want Spain to win the World Cup:

I see that Serena Williams was in on the mis-spelling 'penalties' thing.

A pentality would be something that comes in fives, which is a happy accident.

Or a finishing move in Mortal Kombat where you stab your defeated opponent with a biro.

I suppose he's got to find something to say while all the Cabinet are not allowed to leak from their Chequers awayday.
