Not impossible, but I think that both Portugal and Spain will want to win their group to avoid Uruguay, and goal difference may decide that. So I'm expecting high scores this evening.

You think they'd rather face Uruguay?

Entire group stage with no 0-0s is very feasible now.

Although neither Portugal nor Iran are taking any risks here.

Tomorrow, both France and Denmark benefit from a scoreless draw.

Feasible, yes. Still, I bet against.

Winner gets Argentina/Nigeria, loser gets Croatia, barring major upset.

Uruguay really went for it against Russia and France may feel they need to lay down a marker. Denmark likely to park the bus, I would think.

37, or does it only count as 36 if the simultaneous game ends 0-0?

We can count it as 37, as that number of games with a goal will have been played.

A mere five minutes to go ...

About 5 minutes left in a France Denmark game in which they are both already all but through.

There could be 500 minutes left and I doubt it would change.

Should have put a massive bet on this.

Alphabetically, Australia/Peru comes first, so we can say that it took until the 38th match. (I believe it was listed as 'Match 38' elsewhere.)

And after the break in Game 38, now back up to 20 consecutive matches with goals. 150 goals in 58 games gives us a GPG rate of 2.58.

I think they said de Bruyne was the 100th different scorer in this World Cup

So was that stinker the only scoreless game this tournament? Is this another record in modern world cups for fewest scoreless games?

Don't speak too soon linus. England-Sweden could conceivably finish 0-0 and then have a penalty shoot-out which goes on for ever as no-one can score on of those either. Harry Kane might need to be injured or sent off for that to be the case, though.
