No, the South of Ireland are still crap really

South's PM calls for team to disband

So, can Spain manage another masterclass or will the Croats pick their pocket and top the group? Will Italy go gung-ho and still get eliminated on a stitch, or can their 1962 vintage spring a surprise? England may await the winner...

Trappaderci has named his teams to play Italy tomorrow and Kazakhstan in September. Only one change, it reverts to the side that began against Croatia.

    S Given, J O'Shea, S Ward, R Dunne, S Saint Ledger, G Whelan, K Andrews, A McGeady, D Duff, R Keane, K Doyle.

Duff is captain tomorrow to mark his 100th cap. Congratulations.

Wow, has Trap been at the guiness or has not not watched any of the games.

I expect him to rip off his mask and reveal himself to be manager Mick ala mission impossible.

He wants to stay loyal to the players who qualified. And have shipped seven goals in 180 minutes.

Excuse me while I go break something.

Steady on, Bryan, careful of yer new 200cm TV.

Gangster- there may be analysis of An Taoiseach's recent intervention in foreign affairs, later in the thread.

Meanwhile, Trap has played down criticism that the South's performances suggest key players have lost the use of some of their limbs. "It's the only way this lot will get atrophy" quipped the miserable Milanese.

Meanwhile, John Delaney reckons that the singing of The Fields Of Athenry will be the abiding memory of the Spain match. Roy Keane, on the other hand, has become a hate figure for making the eminently sensible suggestion that Ireland "shouldn't just go along for the sing-song".

Maybe we should field the following team against Italy:

(1-2-3-4): Lynott, Hewson, Moore, Morrison, Furey, Keating, Filan, Geldof, O'Donnell, Makem, Clancy.

Subs (Parentage Rule): McGowan, Morrissey, Bush, O'Dowd, Rotten, Springfield

Ireland doesn't deserve Roy Keane. He should have been born Danish or Belgian. They'd have appreciated him. You demand the best in Ireland and you get people whispering, "who does that fecker think he is?"

Meanwhile, the South's government has awarded the ultimate honor to veteran democracy campaigner Aung Sang Suu Kyi. Luckily for the home side, Burma aren't in their group for World Cup 2014 qualifying. I could see the diminutive Oxford-based playmaker doing some damage against that defence.

Ireland have every chance of making history tonight - just a three-goal margin required, and we'll officially be the worst-ever team in a Euros group. On a more serious note, likely to be the last time Given, Duff and Dunne at least play for the Republic, though sadly, Keane has vowed to carry on.

This is the peril of appointing a foreign manager. Regardless of what you think of the relative players, if Trap made wholesale changes for the match against Italy, he could be seen as playing his second string against his home nation, thus making it "easier" for his home nation to get the result they need to qualify.

Not sure I've ever seen the Spain away kit before, with light blue shirts.

Weather news is that another one of these storms is forecast for around the end of the first half.

Spain with 78% of possession in the first 14 minutes, with one real chance created that was missed by Iniesta.

So Croatia play the opening ten minutes at a frantic space and press Spain well all over the pitch. But they were never going to maintain that pace.

Spain dominating now and Croatia being edged a bit deeper. Spain's competitive record of late incidentally is 34-2-1, the one being the irrelevant Swiss defeat and the two draws both against Italy.

I know it shouldn't, but the fact that Ireland have worn 1-11 twice really sums them up.
