    Bernd Schuster throughout 1980.

He is actually quite a good argument for the importance of international tournaments, in terms of establishing a reputation. I believe that Schuster would have made a massive reputation for himself as a consistent member of the German team throughout the '80s. Without that, he is usually overlooked in the list of greats of his generation.

Toldo v Holland. I started off wanting Holland to win but was cheering on Italy by the end.

I believe Karel Poborsky's performances at Euro 96 prompted his move to Old Trafford.

Others would be Brolin and Figo v England in 92 and 00 respectively.

Yeah, that was remarkable. Came on for his debut in the 80th minute with West Germany 2-0 down, Ended up with a hat-trick. And scored in the final as well.

Alas, he and Schön (and, I assume, Schön's assistant and successor Jupp Derwall) didn't get on, and Müller played a pitiful few games for West-Germany, despite being a consistent top scorer in the Bundesliga.
