One reason I am looking at doing more road biking than off road is the fact most people I go biking with keep sending me clips like this, and trying to arrange similar jaunts.

I really wish I had the balls for this - I would be one of the ones pushed out of the way on corners or tight single track.

I did a lot of competitive cross-country mountainbiking growing up and even the odd bit of downhill racing. That stuff looks crazy but I'd love to give it a go.

yes I am more a XC person on a mountain bike, but certainly not to competition level.
ie you've got to earn the downhills by climbing etc;
Well that's my excuse; plus I don't think I could afford the amount of body armour required to make me feel safe for this.
