I have to say, Kimmage calling L.A. the cancer of cycling is a tasteless choice of words. It's also adds nothing to the article and only gives Lance a stick to beat Kimmage with.

it is doubtless an inflammatory choice of words and probably in poor taste. it's not indefensible however. cancer is an ancient metaphor for corruption. kimmage could argue that using that metaphor highlights the irony of armstrong's marketing of himself as the ultimate anti-cancer warrior, given what kimmage alleges he has done to the sport that made him.

a side effect of using the metaphor, intended or otherwise, is to attract a lot of attention.
