It does seem to be true, and is very sad.

69 is too early to be dismissed.

According to the Beeb, he had Legionnaire's. I wonder if he picked it up in India. Or over here.

Bloody hell. '09 has been a real cull of the good guys so far, hasn't it?

          Indeed.

Nice eulogy from aggers on Five Live earlier.

          RIP.

            Bugger indeed.

(Legionnaire's is what did for my old man - it's not so much the pernicious pneumonia which is bad enough, but the fact it also shafts all the major organs to boot - he survived it, but was never really properly fit again afterwards)

Bill Frindall's obstinacy was one of the great things about TMS.

Most recently, he wouldn't allow the commentators to recognize Flintoff's first wicket in the recent Chennai test as his 200th because as far as he was concerned the Australia - Rest of the World match was never a test.

He didn't set the records, but he certainly wrote the books.

The Test Match in the sky has now got someone to score it.

                RIP Bearders.

He and David Frith could have had a competition as to who disliked the Supertest most. Frith would probably win seeing that he apparently managed about 3 rants on the subject in a book on a completely unrelated subject, the 2006-7 Ashes.

Man. That is a damn, damn shame.

                  He was the man.
