NZ do have the best batsmen in now (Taylor and Vettori) and their number 10 is just as likely to score runs as any of the top order. So it's not impossible. But Australia big favourites. Would be funny if the Kiwis beat them in RL and cricket in the same weekend though.

New Zealand lose two late wickets to go from 132 for 4 to 143 for 6 at stumps. Their penchant for throwing away promising early positions in tests continues.

Is Brett Lee the worst bowler to get 300? He certainly doesn't fit with the other Australians who've managed it (McGrath, Warne and Lillee).

This has been a pretty enjoyable test match - batsman having to really earn their runs, and application and technique rewarded. Pity the Kiwis couldn't knock the tail over quickly this morning and set up a chase of 230 or so.

Simon Katich has carried his bat.*

New Zealand have missed a great opportunity here (they aren't going to get 300, or maybe even 100). Australia are worse than they've been for ages, but you still can't win without batsmen.

As I typed, NZ lose their first wicket for a duck. Brett Lee has got 300.

*this was meant to be a bbc link, but it wouldn't play nice.
