A mate paid me a visit only yesterday but insisted on walking to my house from the station. I told him to call me if he got beaten up.

By the time he turned up wide-eyed at my house he'd long-realised I hadn't been joking.

Yeah, my mate only lives up on Alton Street, but always offers to come and pick me up if I'm on foot. I know it's not good, but it still seems better than Aldershot on the street-safety front. Now I'm on two wheels, it's less of a problem, of course.

He took several of us into that pub across from the station, once, to watch a match on the telly. There was plenty of anti-'Southerner' sentiment in the air. Strangely, that same weekend he also took us to see Alex play Wigan and the atmosphere there was just fine.

Heh! I think my mate dragged us there (the day after a party) just to watch some footy on the TVs there. Some of them are Liverpool fans and I think their game was guaranteed to be on, there, or something. One day, I'll get him to show me some nicer pubs in the area.
