What colour/design kit does your club wear, then SB?

    Comment

It's a peculiarly garish (but quite Basque) bright orange. The design is messy - the club was founded by a bunch of old competitive runners who can't run any more so cycle, and therefore features a pair of beaten up trainers at the center. I'll try and find a pic.

Here we go. Me, wearing it at Crater Lake. (I think the scenery here qualifies this as bike porn).

That is absolutely spectacular (the view, that is) - the jersey, not so much. Nice instant abs effect though.

Nice time to revive this in time for xmas. I get daily offers from Prendas Ciclismo, who have some nice stuff, inc retro-remakes, but I salivate on facebook when targetted ads for merino wool jerseys and track jackets flood in my direction. All US-based, so prohibitive costwise.

Anyway, I really came on here to ask advice for impending new waterproof overshoes, for use now/winter: I have just pulled the zip off of one the ones I bought last year (I'll check the brand at work later- they're under my desk, in pieces)- the tab at the heel that's supposed to hold the boottee down while you pull the zip up came off a while ago, and it just got jammed without that downward pressure and eventually force pulled it off altogether. Shite design. (I appreciate there is always the problem of tightness coming up against zip-uppability).

So I'm back using a frayed old pair that I paid a fiver for from In-motion Sports (UK rockbottom pricing supplier of ordinary but serviceable stuff: http://www.inmotionproducts.com/)-'Ozzo' branded but despite fraying they are still intact 10+ years on, unlike last year's £20+ pair. Sadly they don't do the same ones any more.

Soooo: I know I can spend loads on castellis (and I DO love their logo) but reviews and ebayers selling them on do suggest that the soles fray/tear rather quickly given the price.
Anybody got anything a bit cheaper to recommend?

I'd consider 'affordable' for something like this (that isn't teamwear) to be up around £30 at most but I guess if there's a perfect/durable pair out there at a higher price, i'd be interested, too.

It may be a little off target, but everyone I know doing a 24 hour Spartan race in Iceland seem to swear by Sealszskinz waterproof socks.

I don’t think my Sunderland commute has quite those weather-proofing needs!

The just-failed pair were Crane Sports Pro, by the way. Well I suppose one of them still works.

Have decided to splash out on a new pair of Castelli Diluvio, c£40. Contributory factors were

                  a) that the 'matching' (in terms of neoprene/thickness) gloves I got for xmas a few years ago came into service last week when the ride to work was a very frosty -2 degrees and I didn't notice any chill on my hands

                  b) I've sold £200+ worth of comics on ebay recently, so have a paypal balance burning a hole in my...whatever the appropriate metaphor would be.

I mentioned vintage merino cycling stuff ads that I get on facebook, so here's one, with a sale on. US-based so hope it's of interest to statesiders. I like the look of the Molteni tracksuit.

edit- facebook links don't work: magliamocycling

                        Yes, a worrying verdict.

That's utterly bonkers. It basically tells everyone that they need to waste court time putting in claims for everything, in order to make sure lawyers get shitloads of cash on small budget payouts.

I thought the ursus punchline about having Splunk splashed across your hindquarters was in this thread but apparently not...
Anyway, I have finally had Splunk splashed across by buying Trek Segafredo bibtights reduced in a sale.

Very comfortable and wearable with lots of my winter jackets.
