Sat in the Gods in the new stand at Edinli.

Replete with its sexist and gender-stereotyping signage!

Heck of a batting effort from Yorkshire today, 282/3 at close of play, and Somerset probably quite frustrated.

Essex are 245 all out against Warks at Chelmsford, perhaps a bit short of where they'd like to be (and five short of the second batting point) so will be hoping for a strong performance from the bowlers tomorrow.

Lancashire went into today's match with several front line bowlers (Anderson, Bailey, Mahmood etc) injured and it was thought they might struggle. Not so, as the returning Glenn Maxwell returned to take four wickets as Sussex went for 127. Lancs 149 - 1 in reply and bat right down to Josh Bohannon at 8 so Sussex may have a tough time ahead.

Sussex were awful when I saw them a few weeks ago. They've got a few loan players in their XI as well.

Start of day 3 at the top of Division One:

            Essex 245 & 73-1
            Warks 161

Essex lead by 157 runs with 9 in hand. Question of looking at the weather to decide how long to bat for I suppose.

            Yorkshire 520
            Somerset 76-4

Somerset are 444 runs behind with 6 remaining. That innings is 31 overs old, so still the chance to earn points.

My, Headingly has changed a lot since I was here before. Though the Western Terrace appears familiar. What happened to the massive apron between the pitch and the stands? It feels smaller now.

Cook keeping things tight so far and putting away the fours when the opportunity presents itself. New Zealander Matt Quinn is at the other end as the nightwatchman from yesterday.

Hildreth has gone lbw for Somerset so they have lost five now. Looking likely they will have to follow on and try to save the draw.

According to Wiki, every stand other than the one that goes back to back with the Rhinos has been replaced since 2000.

And that one's been replaced since last summer

Fisher has to get a wicket soon. He keeps getting edges. Two through the slips last over and one dropped (difficult though) this one just gone.

2 lbw for Maharaj this morning. Somerset 101 for 6

The brick building between the East Stand and Football Stand is the only structure at Headingley built before 2001, and the lower area of that was removed as part of the design of the new stand.

Cook has given Quinn the message to get slogging.

Tom Westley out very quickly, went fishing and Ambrose took it very smartly.

Quinn goes the next ball and that's three very quick wickets for Warks.

                                      The pavilion?

Most members are now eagerly anticipating the construction of the third pavilion, and finding out what excuse will be given when we're told we're not allowed in that one either.

The lead is 223 with six remaining and the good news for Essex at least is that two established batters are in now, which reduces the pressure compared to when there's a nightwatchman at one end.

We start with Patel v Patel.

I suppose the Lions match is having a fair impact on this round of Championship fixtures. Warks are playing without the division's top run-scorer in Dom Sibley. Somerset are without Gregory and Leach.

Why on earth did Somerset decide to bowl first?

Funny old pitch at Trent Bridge. We've had spinners opening the bowling, with Ravi Ashwin taking 12 Surrey wickets in the match and Virdi taking 8-61 in Notts. first innings and two more today.

What a ball from Brookes! RtD's off stump goes cartwheeling and Essex are six down all of a sudden.

Somerset need another 18 with the last wicket to earn a batting point.
