Good to know Barguil will have a nice jersey when we see him getting dropped early on the summit finishes at the Tour.

It's his first win since those two stages in the 17 Tour

Is there a Tour de France thread? I've looked but couldn't see one.

Not yet one for this year. Feel free to start one,

The Finnish championship was won by a bloke called Arto Vainionpaa. He's fifty years old!

                    Needs a catchy title UA.

Alex Howes will wear the star spangled jersey. He rode a Grand Tour in each of 2013-2017 but didn't last year. Wonder if EF will want to show off his new threads at Le Tour?

                        Excellent. Hope yet!

I just want to give Yves Lampaert a great big hug at this point. "It's OK, you can still win something big!"

I'm sure there's a 'Your own cycling' thread around somewhere, but while I find it...

Anyone done much velodrome riding? Had an hour's taster session at the National Cycling Centre in MCR yesterday though. Absolutely brilliant. Who needs roads and hills and weather. Or gears and brakes. Although a freewheel would be nice

Managed to tear up the field (of about a dozen slightly portly MAMILS) with some fearless top-of-the-track riding. Also pretended each time I went over the finish line was a gold medal moment. Had a couple of painful reminders not to suddenly stop pedaling though.

Van Vleuten is absolutely destroying the race.

After a Merckxian solo win on yesterday's queen stage gave her all of the jerseys she is eligible for, AVV has just beaten Van der Breggen by almost a minute (and everyone else by more) over today's 12.1 km uphill time trial.

And after the team lost nearly a minute in the opening TTT, too. Stage 8 on Friday looks the biggest hurdle left in the race.

That looks like more of a tactic to avoid having to defend the jersey every day.

Chris Froome officially named Vuelta 2011 winner - the first British GT win.

If he wins another Giro he'll become only the third man to have won all three GTs more than once, after Hinault and Contador.

Been to the Sheffield Grand Prix this evening. Not won by Matt Bostock surprisingly, instead a four man break got away early and Ollie Wood took the victory.

The demise of domestic teams was quite clear - the space for team vehicles took up a considerably smaller footprint than previous years.

Lucy Kennedy of Mitchelton Scott wins the inaugural women's race in San Sebastián with a late attack, continuing the team's excellent season.

Evenepoel with 40 seconds as he crests the final climb. This would be remarkable.
